Which competitions/places/events would win you a all expenses paid trip ? I've been wanting to know, because I hear some competitions can get you to WC for free and I'd like to work towards that goal for WC '09.

Usually just some of the opens. This year, the Canadian and US Opens gave away a trip to worlds for first place in the 3x3. Unless you're ridiculous, I don't think you're going to win. Harris Chan and Ryan Patricio won the North American trips, so you have a lot to work for if you want one.

You think it is hard for him to win?

What about me? I live in a country that has Erik, Joël, Ron, Rama (and Marc van Beest). It is hard (impossible) for me to actually get into a national final!

Fortunately I have a job to pay for my own travelling.

Tss Arnaud we allready discussed this before, you will be sub-10 average with Keyhole and 4-LL.:D

But you were able to drive to the WC this year, whereas people on other continents had to fly. ;)
I might have been able to drive, but I flew to Hungary. I also flew to the US, Italy and UK.

All other countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Poland) I drove

well, you can surely get into a final...:)
they're just 5...you can make a final with 12 people :D

Oh I see, so basically winner of each country open only in the 3x3 events get that trip ?

So, OH winners, BLD WRs and stuff do not get paid trips ?

Ryan Patricio won US Open with an average of 14.92, I don't think that's ridiculously good and impossible to achieve. I don't think 2 years is not long enough to go from 18 average to sub 15 average.

Ryan's 14 sec avg wasn't too good, but most people "choked" in the finals. Mitchell and Jason, to name a couple, had 16 and 17 averages, and I think the way the finals were run didn't help that. Each person went one at a time, putting everyone in the rooms attention on that one person... I couldn't imagine how weird that would feel, with an entire room focused on every little thing you do. I think in '09 that the times are going to be even more insane, so being that much better is necessary. I'm not sure if other countries gave away trips because some of they're "Opens" were after worlds, ie. UK Open.

I see, because I've seen some insane videos of him.

How exactly do you know ahead of time where and when will they give paid trips ?
